THE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF WOMEN
WEBSITE

THE BRIEF

Creating a new site for the International Museum of Women required thinking about museums from a fresh and modern perspective. As a “museum-without-walls”, the IMoW engages a global audience through online exhibitions and programs that educate its visitors, invite them to become part of a community, and inspire them to take action for positive change.

In addition to the redesign of the site, the project included the creation of a framework for the launch of the new Women, Power and Politics exhibition that could be used for new exhibitions, and the incorporation of popular social networking features such as blogging, community forums, and user profiles.

THE SOLUTION

By showcasing cinematic, time-based presentations featured on the home and major section pages, the design solution enables the museum to tell the story of how they are “Transforming Hearts and Minds” and “Connecting People Across Borders” in an effort to “Inspire Global Change”.

Another major concern of the visual redesign included the rollout of a refreshed visual identity, which included a new logotype and updated color palette. In conjunction with compelling museum-curated and user-generated content, the redesign keeps the Museum’s online presence fresh and exciting—bringing users coming back and spurring community growth.
